One of my favorite books of all time! Art of War by Sun Tzu is one of the most interesting books you can read during your spare time. The book can be used as a motivational tool for some, a marketing guide for many.

Top three quotes from the book that can change your life: 1. "Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak" - For me, this quote represents life in general. There are so many moments in life where we feel weak due to unfortunate circumstances. The art of remaining strong during hardships is an example of a strong character, one which cannot be bent by circumstances. In the book, Sun Tzu believed that appearance matters more than strength (winning without a battle), deception is the key to keep a track of the opponents intentions.
2. “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” - This quote is perfect for marketing companies, if you know "what makes you different" then you should not worry about the competition, just focus your energy on innovation. You must be aware rather than fear. If you are aware of the changes around you, then nothing can stop you from achieving the best outcomes. See the mirror before someone else flashes it at you. Sun Tzu believed that victory comes from self awareness, he believed that true strength lies in self belief rather than strength of the army. 3. “In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity” - People who revolve around chaos will never see the opportunity it brings, because they are too busy waiting for the chaos to settle. Seize the opportunity before you lose yourself. Identify the necessary opportunities to thrive even in chaos. People fear chaos, they look at it as a threat to order, but it's proven that in chaos lies the opportunity to identify and rectify the cause.

Understanding this book provides you an alternate view of marketing as well. Contents of this book will travel generations, because of it's relevance. The book not only lives up to to its name, it goes beyond the dimensions of its content. Every time I read this book, it offers me an insight into lessons that go beyond the philosophy and nature of warfare. His experience and knowledge changed the rules of war, it is used in management courses as an example of sustainable growth.
